Could These Change Gentlemen's Tailoring?
You might think it a fairly strange idea that the level of technology will change the way men dress. But it has happened often enough in the past and I see no reason why it might not happen again. The tails of a morning suit are the remnants of the long tails of a riding coat. They disappeared from everyday life when men no longer rode horses but rather cars where such tails are a distinct hindrance. The idea of male purses (outside Italy that is) has never really taken off although men for a long time did carry canes or walking sticks. Both are, at least I presume they are, hangovers of a time when men carried a sword and liked to have their hands free to use one.
