When I told people I was meeting Stacy London, the fashion stylist who hosts the TLC show What Not To Wear, I received a universal response: “What are you going to wear?”

“I really should have called them jump-starts,” she said, “because it's only one look. It's the jumping-off point.” 

London was born in Manhattan to an academic father (the founding dean of the New York University Gallatin School) and a venture capitalist mother (“a total trailblazer,” she said), who divorced when London was 4. 

At age 11, a previously diagnosed case of psoriasis worsened, making London uncomfortable in her own skin.
