Although Taylor Trohkimoinen, a senior at Newell High School, and a standout girls basketball player since the seventh grade, was contacted by a number of universities across the state and beyond, she has chosen to stick close to home and has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets. She heard from South Dakota State University, where her sister Jordan attends where she is studying to be an Athletic Trainer, Northern State, University of Mary and Colorado State.I compare {} dre in ear tour headphones.monster beats cheap

And her local fans are thankful for that decision. Already several people in the Newell area have commented that they plan to take in the BHSU women's games starting next year.Wholesale and Discount SKY Cycling jersey online ! But Taylor still has the rest of this year and her final high school basketball season to get through before she thinks about heading off to college ball.

“Mark (Nore - BHSU women's basketball coach) has probably wanted Taylor (for BHSU) since she was in eighth grade,” said Melanie Williamson when she heard about Taylor signing with BHSU. Nore confirms tWhere can i get moncler jackets for sale?hat information.

“We followed Taylor for a long time,” said Nore. “We were fortunate enough to work with her at our basketball camp from the time she's been in junior high. In her case, many years. We contacted her as soon as we could the summer going into her senior season.”

Nore said that Taylor is a triple threat player, with great character, getting it done in the classroom and can really play. He said he looks for competitive character kids and that Taylor definitely fits that mold.

Speaking of fitting in, Nore said he feels that Taylor will fit in well with the current Yellow Jacket team.

“They love her,” he said. “She just needs to continue to get stronger and play lower. It is such a physical league, the good thing is she is willing to put in the time to get stronger.”

Taylor has played basketball since she was small and was part of the junior varsity team as a seventh grader. She was on the varsity roster as an eighth grader and has been an integral part of the team since. Trohkimoinen and fellow senior Chantel Wheeler have played together since they were freshmen. They are the only two seniors on the Lady Irrigator team this year.

“Playing at state,” was Trohkimoinen's comment when asked what her favorite memory of NHS basketball is concerned. “Being in the state championship game was great, we were the only ones (Newell girl's team) to ever do that.”

Trohkimoinen had the special privilege of playing for three years with her older sister, Jordan. She said she enjoyed that time. Family is important and they have attended pretty much every event Taylor has participated in.

“I don't think that her mom has missed much of anything,” said Scott Wince, Taylor's step father.

“My dad (Darron Trohkimoinen) is almost always there too,” said Taylor. Both sets of grandparents, Veron and Carol McCarthy and Don and Bobbie Trohkimoinen try to get to everything Taylor is involved with, especially in the sports department.

Of course her stepfather, Scott Wince, makes every basketball game, as he is on the sidelines coaching her, as well as working with her every day during the season.

Nore looks forward to what Taylor will add to his team and Black Hills State.

“She is a system kid,” said Nore. She does what she has to do for her team to be successful, she hates to lose.” Nore considers her one of the top players in the state of South Dakota and said they are very excited about her commitment to the BHSU program. He said they strive to keep local talent close to home and are thankful that she chose their program. He predicts a great career for her as a Yellow Jacket.

Taylor's career in sports has put a lot of trophies on her shelves. For the three years of her high school career in basketball she has had 45 percent in fielding, 38 percent at the three-point line, and 70 percent at the free throw line. She has made the All Tournament team at the State Basketball Tournament two times. This award is given to the top 10 players in the tournament. She was also twice voted to the All State Girls Basketball, and award voted on by the coaches throughout the state.

So BHSU will be getting a top notch athlete and student when Trohkimoinen registers for school a year from now. For now though, Taylor is just concentrating on her final year of high school.
