Inspired by the Indian Maharaja and the Sadhu, Ruchika Sachdeva’s Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 collection was a strong androgynous offering. Combining the two contrasting themes, Ruchika visualised sharply cut blazers and trousers, elegant silk blouses, smart shirt dresses and feminine pleated dresses that would be timeless fashion favourites. Shades of maroon, burnt orange, olive and mustard were the prime choice of the designer, while hand woven pure cotton denim, crepe, wool and tulle formed the base.
Adding on a fun element, Ruchika had white ghungroos and embroidered moustaches to present the theme on the garments. Women’s wear was slightly androgynous with floppy jackets, piped sleeves, and pockets, long jacket/dresses, and loose shirt-coats with fake waistcoat accents, jumpsuits and blouses.
Tulle was used as an interesting embellishment and appeared at times only in the front of the garment or followed the lines of the solid shape below. Experimenting with men’s wear for the first time, Ruchika followed her distinct styling details in classic tailoring for the stronger sex combining it with unconventional detailing to define the look. Tulle appeared for the menswear too, with a slight reversal in silhouettes – wide culotte trousers, V neck tunics and elongated shirts.

Reiland is anticipating the opportunity to gather waxy-scented boxes of color crayons and other things on the Kingsland supply lists and let students in kindergarten through 12th grade who shop the distribution choose what school supplies they'd like to have for the coming school year.
"This project provides children with new supplies when they may otherwise not have the opportunity. We like that students are able to pick out their own supplies and to help them get excited about going back to school. It also helps decrease the stress that parents may feel thinking that they need to provide their children with school supplies," said Reiland.
The churches of Spring Valley and Wykoff are collecting donations - new school supplies, quality used children's clothing, and cash to be used to purchase additional supplies which may not be donated now through Aug. 21, and donations may be dropped off at area churches.
"We are collecting the typical school supplies. For specifics, please see the Kingsland schools website school supply lists or lists in church bulletins. Typically, items in greatest need have been notebooks - single and multi-subject, composition notebooks, decorated folders - we like to have some items that are fun for the students to pick out - and folders typically come in a wide variety of designs. We have a large supply of backpacks this year, so we probably need fewer of them than in previous years."
