Fashion designer and TV personality Nicole Richie is known as a style trendsetter. For those who love her boho chic aesthetic but can't afford her upscale House of Harlow 1960 and Winter Kate fashion lines, hang on for a few more months: three sketches were released today of her more affordable Nicole Richie for Impulse limited-edition line for Macy's that will be available in stores this fall.

The collection of maxis, asymmetrical skirts, cropped tops and fitted jackets will range in price from $49 to $149. Starting in mid-September, you can shop the collection at 100 Macy's stores, including the Macy's at SouthPark mall.

“Macy's is the epitome of American fashion,” said Richie in a statement. “Their iconic stamp on the world of retail has not only touched the lives of consumers, but has also become a significant part of pop-culture. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with Macy's and create a collection that channels the individual artist in all of us.”

Richie, wife of Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden and mother to their daughter, Harlow, and son, Sparrow, is now part of a group of well-known designers who have collaborated with Macy's for Impulse collections including Karl Lagerfeld, Alberta Ferretti and Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa.

As the adopted daughter of legendary singer Lionel Richie, she became a part of pop culture after starring with former BFF Paris Hilton in 2003 on the reality show “The Simple Life.” Her rise as a respected designer and businesswoman hit many pitfalls along the way, which makes her success more sweet.

Here's a timeline on her sometimes tumultuous - but always interesting - life:

1981: Born in Berkeley to a musician who performed briefly with Lionel Richie and the niece of musician Sheila E.

1984: Because they couldn't afford to provide for her financially, her parents agree to let her live with Lionel Richie and his wife.

1986: She attends The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California, where she meets Paris Hilton.

1990: Legally adopted by Lionel Richie.

1999: Graduates from Montclair College Preparatory School, then attends the University of Arizona alongside Kourtney Kardashian.

2001: Drops out of college and returns to California.

2003: Richie and Paris Hilton's reality series, “The Simple Life” on Fox, is watched by 13 million viewers. The show continues for five seasons. She's arrested in Malibu and charged with possession of heroin while driving with a suspended driver's license.

2005: Makes her acting debut in the film “Kids in America.” Releases her semi-autobiographical novel, “The Truth About Diamonds.”  Makes a live appearance on “The View” playing the piano.

2006: Begins dating Joel Madden. Makes headlines for her dramatically thin appearance. Arrested for DWI.

2007: Richie announces plans to start a jewelry, accessories and sunglasses line. She and Madden create The Richie Madden Children's Foundation.

2008: Her and Madden's daughter, Harlow, is born. People magazine pays $1 million for the first photos of Harlow. Debuts a jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960.

2009: She partners with maternity store A Pea in the Pod to create a new collection of maternity clothes titled “Nicole.” Her and Madden's son, Sparrow, is born.

2010: House of Harlow 1960 grows to include apparel and shoes. She expands her fashion business with a women's line called Winter Kate (her daughter's two middle names). She also won “Entrepreneur of the Year” for her House of Harlow 1960 brand at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards. House of Harlow 1960 was also nominated in the category “Celebrity Fashion Line” at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards. Her second novel, “Priceless,” is released. Featured on the charity single “We Are the World 25 for Haiti.” Marries Madden during a small ceremony.

2012: She is one of the three mentors on NBC's “Fashion Star” design competition; designs a limited edition collection for Macy's.
