A 27-year-old Greenwood woman is sitting in jail on a $20,000 bond after investigators said she broke into a man’s home to take food, shoes, a coat and other items.

Tuesday, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday, an investigator was dispatched to the 700 block of Tulip Lane in Greenwood, Ind., on a report of a burglary.

The victim told investigators someone had come through the window after busting out the screen and took his computer from the living room, which the victim said he had found in the garage.

The man said nothing was missing from the wallet, but he reported the following items as missing after the break-in: a bike, a pair of size-5 girls’ Nike shoes and a set of house keys (with his SUV keys attached).

Just a short while later, the same investigator was dispatched to Southland Community Church on West Smith Valley Road in Greenwood. The woman, identified as Alice A. Stier, 27, was asked what she was doing at the church and how she had gotten there. She told the investigating officer she had been out all night and had ridden a bicycle to the church.

The investigator said he asked Stier where the bike was and she told him it was outside of the church. The investigating officer said not only did he find the bike matched the description of the bicycle stolen from the burglary victim’s home, but he discovered Stier was wearing shoes that also matched the burglary description.

Stier told investigators she had pushed through the screen of an open window and taken a few food items, along with a coat and shoes, because she was cold and hungry.

She also told investigators she had broken into the home because she was “running from those people,” but when asked who they were, she said she wasn’t sure.She said she took the victim’s wallet, but didn’t take anything out of it except for some cash.Stier was booked into the Johnson County Jail on a charge of burglary, a Class B felony, and is being held on a $20,000 bond.
