Hundreds of warrants were issued for Operation Resolute which is a three-week battle against all crimes, and Operation Shepherd, a week-long crackdown on sexual offenders and abusers.
The M.E.N joined officers in south Manchester as they faced aggressive offenders, dangerous dogs and a suspected secret cannabis stash.
At 6am, officers used a battering ram to force their way into the Ardwick home of two men suspected to be behind a series of daylight knife point robberies on students and commuters. They were led out and arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Assistant Chief Constable Ian Wiggett joined the raids, carried out after months of painstaking intelligence gathering.
He said: “We’ve just executed a warrant on a couple of lads who we think are guilty of committing particularly nasty daytime robberies.Welcome to Specialized Cycling jersey online!
“These lads think they own the estate but we are here to show them they will not get away with offences like robbery.
“This is a very strong message – you are not going to get away with it. If you are wanted we will be coming to find you.”
Ardwick councillor Bernard Priest said the arrests would be welcomed by neighbours on the estate.
Later, officers raided a house in West Didsbury, where the tactical aid unit found the back door unlocked, but had been warned of a dangerous dog, which they restrained. Detective Chief Inspector Chris Bridge from the Criminal Protection Unit told the M.E.N: “We are working in partnership with agencies across Greater Manchester to provide victims with support and encourage them to come forward and report offences that have been committed against them.”
