Slim-fit designs for men: Jackets with a narrower cut are increasing in output, although looser models continue to be mainstream. The hem usually ends slightly above the hips. Reversible pieces are also gaining ground.
Variety in women’s selection: Most releases are waist-length, but suppliers also offer products that have lower hems. Longer styles are usually nipped to emphasize the midriff. For a more interesting look, an oversized collar or a drawstring hood is sometimes adopted.
Colors, patterns & trimmings: Models made of knitted or fleece fabrics come in vibrant shades of yellow, purple, red and blue. Black, gray and brown are favored for woven outerwear. Popular motifs include stripes, plaids and geometric themes. Epaulets, ruffles, lace, applique and embroidered patches add to the visual appeal.
Price & sales forecasts: The cost of materials and labor, and the dollar-to-yuan exchange rate will push up quotes by 10 percent or less in the coming half-year. Most exporters anticipate 2012 revenue to stay the same as the previous corresponding period. The US and Europe will remain the priority.
